Momentum in Motion

From administration to impact. From structure to opportunity. This is the PanAm Aquatics we are building TOGETHER.

AQUA

In 2019, our organization, then called UANA, existed largely as an administrative structure to support aquatics. We had a name, a mandate, and a responsibility to serve, but we had very little visibility and even fewer resources. At that stage, our work was mostly about keeping things moving. Many across the continent did not know who we were or what our role could be, but within our core groups of leaders, who have now built what you all know now as PanAm Aquatics, there was always a belief and a hope for the impact that could come from a unified, visible, supportive, and athlete-centered organization leading the future of aquatics in our continent. Such a change not only required organizational involvement but also, very importantly, stakeholder engagement.

What has changed since then is not just scale, but purpose. Over the past years, I have seen aquatics in the Americas begin to move with confidence. We are seeing more cooperation, more shared learning, and a stronger belief that quality opportunities should not be reserved for a few but extended to many. This matters deeply on a continent where the majority of our federations are still working with limited funding, limited access, and limited exposure. That reality has shaped every decision we make.

PanAm Aquatics has grown into an organization that puts athletes at the center of its work. Our events are no longer just competitions. They are moments where athletes are seen, where they are given the chance to be stars, to shine, and to believe that they belong on regional, continental, and world stages. Watching that confidence grow is one of the most rewarding parts of this role. Moreover, our development initiatives are no longer check boxes to meet requirements. They are staples in our stakeholders’ experience in aquatics, where they gather regularly as a community to learn, share lived experiences, and pave a path forward collectively.

For me, this represents the realization of a vision I once held quietly, unsure it would ever truly take shape. To see that vision becoming a reality brings a deep sense of pride, especially in the team that continues to push aquatics to be more than just a sport for those who participate. I am energized by how much further we can still go, and by the impact we can continue to create for our athletes and communities. What we are building is not only about medals or records. It is about belonging, opportunity, and inclusion, ensuring that aquatics is a space where everyone has a place and a purpose.

Everything we have accomplished is the result of collective effort. It reflects the commitment, time, and belief of National Federations, volunteers, athletes, coaches, technical officials, sport professionals, and partners across the Americas who chose to invest in something bigger than themselves. PanAm Aquatics has grown because people stepped forward, shared ideas and knowledge, supported one another, and believed that our continent deserved more access, more opportunity, and more visibility.

The launch of our new website is a natural next step in this evolution. For the first time, PanAm Aquatics has a digital home that reflects who we are today: athlete-centric, innovative, collaborative, inclusive, and continuously breaking ground in the pursuit of excellence in aquatics. This platform was intentionally and meticulously curated to serve as a practical resource hub for athletes, coaches, athlete support systems, technical officials, National Federations, sports professionals, partners, and fans of aquatics across our continent. It brings information, opportunity, and connection into one accessible digital space, something that is especially important for those who do not always have easy access to support.

This website represents transparency, accessibility, and commitment to growth. It is not an endpoint. It is a foundation. As our programs expand and our community continues to grow, this platform will grow with us.

I am proud of how far we have come in a short period of time, and I am encouraged by the momentum we are experiencing right now. More than anything, I am grateful to the people across the Americas who continue to believe in the value of aquatics and in what we can build together.

The future of PanAm Aquatics is being shaped every day by our community, and this launch is one more step forward in that journey to provide you with the best resources, knowledge, and support to continue strengthening aquatics in our continent.
